Hamstead Salt Marsh Walk

Woodland, boats, marshes and beaches

This is a lovely circular walk that has something for everyone, and although it’s fairly long at 7.4km, it’s a great walk for the kids.

From the start, you cross a small bridge great for pooh sticks, and then along the gravel road all the way to the boat park. Look out for squirrels along the way.

From the boat park, you walk across the marshes that can be muddy after high tides or lots of rain, across the boardwalks and to Hamstead beach.

Walk west along the beach and join the path, passing the concrete tank ramp as you head back inland.

It’s a steady climb to Hamsted farm, and then on to the gravel road back to the bridge and car park.
